Gough family nearly complete

The Pennsylvania half of our Gough family is now pretty much complete on this website. We’ve added Peter Gough and wife Letitia McNulty/Nulty and their six children (and descendants to one additional generation), as well as John McGeehan and wife Mary and their nine children (we descend through son Hugh McGeehan and his wife, Mary Kiernan).

In addition, we’ve added the McCloskey family, Michael McCloskey and wife Mary Mullen, from County Derry, whose daughter Susan married John J. Gough Sr. in 1859, probably in Philadelphia. We’re sure there are more children than the ones we know about but hope someone will spot this website and help us fill in more blanks.

And finally we’ve built a Kiernan family for Hugh McGeehan’s wife, Mary. We believe they were originally from County Longford.

Next up, the Massachusetts side and then on to the Rowland in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina.

New year, new goals!

You’ll notice that I’ve begun filling out more information here on our family website, starting with the Goughs. Once I get more family info added, the plan is to start posting about genealogy research and ways to stitch together information from disparate sources to build a family story. Onward!

Making progress here!

After a (too long) hiatus, I’m back to work, adding more information about our families (starting with the Goughs).

While this is ongoing, you can always check out the information on various Rowland families at our other site, The Tennessee Genealogist. That one has a bit more information on it at the moment, including a few blog posts about research techniques that I’ve found helpful to keep in mind. Check it out!
